Sunday March 25, 2018 - Tropical Birdie Day.  Beautiful weather, flowers, friends, food, drink and golf.  Now that is what I call paradise!  What more could any of us ask for?

Sunday February 25, 2018 was a nice relaxing afternoon, with no intended competitions. After a freezing, incredibly gusty Friday, Sunday rolled around to a very pleasant 70, with almost no wind.  Everyone was out, as usual, just to have a pleasant Sunday afternoon.  There was some good golf enjoyed by everyone, but Team 2 consisting of the Chambers and the Gleasons, hit a home run with an all time NEW SSE TEAM LOW SCORE of 31 - count 'em - 5 shots under par!  The chief cook and bottlewasher of the SSE's took the liberty of deciding this was an award winning event, and medals were bestowed on all team members for thier outstanding efforts!

Sunday, February 18, 2018 was OLYMPIC WEEK!  Go for the GOLD! We had medals, trophies and certificates for Ice Hockey, Gymnastics, Team Relay Race and Diving!

Ice Hockey (hole #3) - this went to Greg Roth for sinking the longest putt on hole #3. Greg reported that he sunk a 4' putt, which may or may not have been the longest putt, but he was the only one who recorded and reported it!  He got a very messy certificate for his efforts, and upon further reflection it was decided that his mental acuity alone merited him a trophy, which was awarded to Greg shortly after Olympic Sunday!  Ice hockey was loosely interpreted as using a stick (golf club) to hit a puck (golf ball) across the goal line (into

the cup).

Gymnastics (hole #4) - tee to green drive, this award displays symmetry between mind and body - physical exercise coupled with intellectual activity!  Maureen Pugsley brought home the trophy for her efforts as the only one to make tee to green on the correct hole!  Girl power!  You go, Maureen!

Team Relay Race (hole #9) - Red Ball Relay - THIS WAS NOT A BEST BALL HOLE - but a TEAM RELAY with a very special team red ball.  While everyone just LOVED the red balls, no team managed distinction on this hole, with 2 teams scoring a 7 and the third while reporting a 7 due to the faulty math of one of the team mates, actually scored an 8.  The award was intended for LOW score, not HIGH score, so medals remain for another day!

Diving (all 9 holes) - the player who lands in the water the most number of times during all 9 holes will take away this Olympic water sport award!  There were 5 single dunks in the water.  A lack of effort by individual players made it necessary to wait for another competition to make an award for water sports!

January 28, 2018 was another competition day - OB Day!  Click on the photo left to see details.  Much was left to the imagination of the various players as to the ultimate rules for OB Day, but it was clarified that each team got one "do-over" on an Out-Of-Bounds shot.  There was a fair amount of fishing and rock-climbing on OB Day, but in the end Trudy, once again, brought home the trophy!  Lisa and Trudy concocted numerous plots to take home the award, but in the end it was Trudy who put her cheeks into it.  SSE was off for Super Bowl Sunday.

January 21, 2018 was another competition day - Go For The Gold, and Bill Davis brought home the bacon! He drove his ball in real pro fashion and landed it from Tee to Green on Lakes Hole #7.  Great going, Bill!  You set the gold standard! We are proud just to rub shoulders!

January 7, 2018 was Spice-It-Up Sunday!  Take a bit of your favorite spice, throw a little over your shoulder for good luck and think "I'm gonna be hot on that course today!" To earn your very own Spice-It-Up-Sunday Award Certificate, land your drive on the putting green on  Falls Hole Number 4!  Captains, please keep a record of your players who earn a certificate - and have team members describe, in spicy detail, how the drive looked and the thrill you all felt when it landed on the green!  Drive closest to the pin (on the green) on Hole Number 4  from all teams will earn one of our coveted SSE Prizes in addition to the Award Certificate!

It would seem that landing on the green on this hole was too much of a challenge for this group!  No hot tamales here this week.  Out of 5, count 'em FIVE teams, no one landed on the green and stayed there!  John Pugsley snagged a Super Driver Award because he got there, but rolled off (and Maureen Pugsley liked the Super Egg Image on the award).  Lia McCormick earned a Special Achievement Award for coming within INCHES of the green.  Better luck nextime, everyone.

Sunday December 10 was Santas Helpers Day! Everyone got into wearing-of-the-red and the outfits were great fun.  Lia and Scott took the prizes for the day.  Click photo to open.

Sunday November 26 was Driving Miss Daisy Day!   Longest Drive for Men was taken by Tom MacKenzie and Longest Drive for Women was swept up by Jackie MacKenzie.  And just to keep things fun, we also added Shortest Drive.  Terry Roth worked very hard to take home this amazing award with a 12' drive! Go Terry! Greg, you've got your work cut out for you!

Sunday April 30, 2017 - BIRDIE AWARDS

Tom MacKenzie played an outstanding game on Sunday, taking home for the first Individual Birdie Award, followed by Jackie MacKenzie who sunk an amazing putt on the 9th hole to earn her own Individual Birdie Award. With a team score of two Birdies, Susan Gleason and Brian Gleason tagged along sharing with Jackie and Tom the Team Birdie Awards.

Sunday April 23, 2017 - THE TURF CLUB AWARD

Bill Davis took home the Turf Club Award. Welcome to the club, Bill!  This award was designated for a bit of over zealousness in connecting with the ball.  The clarification is that while a small scrape of turf is expected when properly hitting the ball, strip mining (aka "farming") is not the goal. There was avid competition for this week's award, and for a short time Greg Roth thought he had it in the bag. Better luck next time, Greg! Honorable mention also goes to Brian Gleason and Dave Chambers. Did anyone notice that these are all male competitors?

Sunday April 16, 2017 - SUNDAY EASTER EGG HUNT

Linda Bolon was the winner of the Easter Egg Hunt, searching out FIVE Easter eggs at the Gleason house after golf.  Congratulations, Linda on a job well done! Linda took home the Bunny Basket for her efforts.

Sunday April 2, 2017 - THE HIGH SURF AWARD

In the true spirit of the Sunday Scrambled Eggs, June Flynn (in keen competition with Mike Roben who tied in this event but was not present for the awards) kept everyone from taking themselves too seriously by sending her ball twice to its watery rest in peace! This earned June the coveted "High Surf" Award. Thank you, June and congratulations!

Sunday March 19, 2017 - THE SUNDAY SANDY AWARD

Despite the heat wave, Dave Chambers labored very hard to take home the "Sunday Sandy" Award! He went to the beach 5 times to take home 2 rum drinks in a mini beach bag and a certificate documenting his skill level to share with all of his friends.

Sunday February 26, 2017 - THE BUSH AWARD

Trudy Chambers received the first-ever SSE Award for the dubious distinction of smacking her first drive of the day directly into the bushes. Following the round, Trudy commented at the award ceremony, "I'm just happy to win something! I don't care what it is!" Thank you, Trudy, for keeping true to the spirit of the Sunday game!
